This new hotel I’m staying in is super cool: it’s a grand old hotel, a little bit faded, but huge and interesting, with excellent mattresses and a lanai with a view east to the harbor. Funny how things turn out; I booked it in desperation after deciding to skedaddle from the original place I’d reserved, and this is way better.
After rising early to catch the sunrise, I took one of the many hikes described in the booklets created by the generous Malta tourism agency. This one is called Hondoq Ir-Rummien, L-Imgarr to L-Imgarr. It took me through villages, along the coastline, through farms; a lovely way to spend five hours.
Here are some photos, sunrise to sunset:

Live all you can. It’s a mistake not to.
I loved the hedgehog caution sign.

The water looks so spectacula – I’d never get out! Glad this hotel is better!

Yes, it does look inviting. Unfortunately, I did not expect such warm weather and I did not bring a bathing suit. I started looking to buy one once I found how lovely the weather in Sicily was, but believe it or not, I haven’t found any place that sells them! Acutually, local shopping shopping patterns are hard to work out: most businesses seem to open a couple of hours very early in the morning, and then reopen between 5:30 and 7pm! Daytime is like a ghost town.

Nancy, The photos of Malta are exquisite. And I’m glad you got a better accommodation on Gozo. I just read about a blogger dying in a car bomb attack on Malta. Yikes!

Thanks, Carol. It’s a beautiful, relatively unspoiled placed. I haven’t heard about an attempted attack yet; yikes is right.

Yes, I was so sad about the bad start I got off to. The whole reason I came to Gozo is because of its beautiful walks.
